Some factors that are affecting nature here in Belize are hurricanes, floods deforestation global warming. We may just look at these and say that’s out of our control. Yes maybe a few of them are but there are a few we can help avoid. Like for floods it may be beyond our control because its heavy rain falls for days, building up too much water for groundwater systems to handle. Slowly, the water level begins to rise, creeping higher and higher until it floods into your home, submerging your furniture and belongings. In extremely bad cases, flash floods, with their rushing torrents of muddy water, sweep away houses, cars, trees, and people with ease. We don’t even try to help our self by getting out when it early. Like the flooding that occurred at Dangriga were many houses swept away and a few life taken away and people being left home less.
Secondly our devastating hurricanes which has the same affects of a flood only more massive and dangerous. Like Hurricane Iris which was a category4 hurricane devastated Belize in October 2001, here it was reported 30 deaths and damage of 22.6 millions.
And let’s not forget deforestation. The world's tropical forests are being lost at an alarming rate, largely due to agricultural expansion. This loss is resulting in the extinction of native plant and animal species, a net increase in greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change, increased soil erosion, drought and flooding. This environmental degradation forces farmers to clear even more land to grow food for their families.
So we can see how all these factors contribute to each other because even though Global warming is strictly an imaginary problem, it is affecting all of us imagine the heat were feeling right know well what about when it continues to heat. The warming of the earth also contributes to the rising in sea level which makes flooding easier.
